Marvel Comics Bringing Entertainment to Generations
Marvel comics started in 1939 with comic books for all people to enjoy. Many of us can think back to the comic books that we once enjoyed as children. Yet there are still certain things that are too addictive to get rid off! But, many people will never stop enjoying the comic books that they once enjoyed as children. The Iron Man and the Hulk seem to be the types of characters that still spark our imagination. We all love reading the comics from our childhood. You can’t and that is why many people still enjoy these books.
This company was actually called Timely Publications when it was first started. It got its present names in the 60s and in 2009 the Walt Disney bought the parent company, Marvel Entertainment, for $4.24 billion.
The comic book company reached its cult status thanks to the love shown by the generation of readers to its characters. But, it is important to remember that they would not have gone anywhere if they did not have a story. Some of these men include Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and it is easy to see that they were very talented.
The first hero that the company made was the Human Torch and many people probably remember him. It was a runaway hit.Then the patriotic superhero called Captain America can about. He did just as well as the Torch, if not better.
Over the years many new characters were created with excellent storyline under the deft leadership of the editors. Apart from the creative team, the marketing, sales, finance, circulation people also left no stone unturned in giving the best services to the readers.
The popularity of the comics is so huge that the characters were taken from the pages of the comics to the cinema screen. Many of them have actually been made into movies that we watch in the theaters now.
Marvel comics, based in New York, has continued to grow and be a successful company but they have still faced some difficulties. For most of its life, DC comics remained its main rival. The major blow received by Marvel was in 1992 when seven of its prized artists left Marvel together to form the successful Image Comics. But, that happens to the best of us sometimes and it is to be expected.
